Because his mistress visited her sister on Sundays. The way led through a dense forest which was not safe for the bear, and the sister was also scared of him.

Q3. What did the bear do when the lady scolded him in the forest?

He did not understand why she was angry. He looked at her with cunning eyes and then turned around and went back into the forest (it was actually a wild bear).

Q4. Why was the cook angry with the mistress?

Because the mistress scolded the bear for following her, but the cook said he had been sitting in his kennel as good as gold the whole time.
